Very Rev. Mario Esposito, O.Carm.

Dear Friends of Mother Angeline,

The peace and joy of the Risen Christ be with you!

As we mark the Feast of Easter 2021, we do so in a spirit of joy and of hope. The Christian people, even as they meet the various crosses of life, are called to face life with two virtues: joy and hope.

Easter is a celebration of joy, the triumph of Christ over the powers of sin, death and darkness, and a steadfast hope in the knowledge that Christ’s victory is ours as well, and though for a moment things may seem dark, the light will come. The Liturgy of Holy Week and Easter invites us to walk through the lows and highs, the darkness and light of Christ’s journey, and to realize that his path is ours, though not as dramatically, and his destiny – eternal life here and now with God – is for us as well.

Long before the Vatican II Council’s Decree on the Renewal of Liturgy, Venerable Mary Angeline Teresa loved and devoted herself to the sacred liturgy. All the ceremonies of the Church’s year were celebrated with devotion and beauty among the Carmelites and the Sisters assisted at these liturgies with beautiful music and prayerful preparation. We do well at this Eastertime to recall her love for the liturgy, especially for the Holy Eucharist, the center of our Catholic life, as well as her devotion to the Priesthood and to praying for priests and encouraging vocations. These are vital elements of her beautiful gift to the Church.

Christ is Risen, He truly is, Alleluia! Easter graces and blessings to all who share our affection for the life and charism of Mother Angeline Teresa, O.Carm. No doubt, our world needs her example of faith, hope and joy. May our Easter remembrances stir up our hope and our joy, and may we be true witnesses of the Risen Christ and His loving power to all whom we meet.

In Christ,

Very Rev. Mario Esposito, O.Carm.
